Authentication box: when?
Hi,
We have 3 printer managers, all on Netware 6.5 SP8. On 2 of them, defining a printer and installing in on a workstation does not bring any authentication box (it uses the credentials coming from the Novell client).
However on the third printer manager, the authentication box appears all the time and we are wondering why.
Thanks,
Marc Delisle

Has the printer been set to SSL connection? Using iManager, check the
printers "Client Support - iPrint Support" settings. Is the "Enable
Secure printing" checked marked.

Yes, they are both checked.

That is why. This forces you to authenticate.

Well, we use the same setting on the other print managers for all other printers and we don't see an authentication box, as the iPrint client uses the Novell client credentials.
If we are not in secure mode, iPrint does not respect the permissions we put on the printers (for example, if only staff and no students are allowed to print).
