BuildBanner() failed

Hello all, after installing NW65sp6 and iprint support pack I am now
getting the following error:

BuildBanner() failed

This is only happening on one server. I believe it is a iprint problem
because when I unload NDPS manager the error stop showing up on the logger
screen. I have installed the latest iprint patch with the same results. I
can not seem to find this error in Novell's knowledge base. I have
reinstalled the support pack with the same results. Any help will be
appreciated

Thanks,

Matt Rivenbark

Re: BuildBanner() failed

You are not the first one to report this problem as the following message
indicates:

http://groups-beta.google.com/group/novell.support.netware.6x.install-upgrade/browse_frm/thread/e4a4eb1296a5caf6/10ace5ab1fd4ec79?#10ace5ab1fd4ec79

However so far no one has come up with a sensible explanation or even
solution.
Are you using banners on some of your printers?

Re: BuildBanner() failed

I can verify that I use banners on the iprint ndps manager where I saw
this.

The messages seem to have 'gone away'.... Suspect its low usage that
explains this though.

Re: BuildBanner() failed

Ok. Only one printer agent used a custom banner. Other printer agents
did not use banners - but I knew from experience that checking the
settings shows banners are set to 'auto'.

So i used nwadmin to check all my other printers, and some where set to
'auto'. Having changed the setting to 'none' and locking it that way -
that seems to have cured the problem.

So thats a workaround if you don't use standard banners I believe.

With my next iprint server to upgrade to sp6 I have over 800 PAs and
think this will cause me a headache though....

Re: BuildBanner() failed

We do not use banners. I have looked at all printer objects and only three
had "auto" selected for banners. I changed all of them to "none" and lock
them. I restarted NDPS manager and I am still getting the error.

Thanks,

Re: BuildBanner() failed

This issue now seems to warrant a mention/fix in one of the latest
iPrint patches nw65iprntsp6e I think it was.

Re: BuildBanner() failed

I can verify this - fixed with iprntnw65sp6f. Its refers to the
following TID:

TID 3616192: BuildBanner() failed message in Logger screen
