Canon 8070 Question

We have two Canon 8070 printers. I did the driver install from inf file,
it seemed to work. This setup work fine for 9 months.

I was then told, that the users can not tell thte printer to punch holes
in the output. The canon repair guys came out, they said the only way to
get the print driver to display the punch holes option is run their setup
program on the PC or a Windows print server. I was told that the install
setup needs to "talk" with the printer to see if it has the hole punch
addon.

Does anyone know how I can fool the driver display the punch hole option
with running the install program on EVERY PC.

thanks
Phil

Canon 8070 Question

My idea is:
Try to use PDRVGEN utility first. If it cannot help, then sniff any
station with "bad" setting and after install driver to obtain "good"
setting, see diferrence and modify registry on other stations
by command in login script.
Or ask Canon if it has any pre-configuration utility (HP has) to make your
setting before adding drivers to NDPS Broker.

Re: Canon 8070 Question

We have an 8070 as well as several other canon copiers that can all do
hole punch, staple, and all that good stuff. How we do it is add the
driver to iPrint with iManager then we create a driver profile for that
model of printer and tell it that it has the hole punch option and all
the other stuff. When the printer gets installed the driver is
preconfigured to use all the features.

Also just to note we use all PostScript drivers. Both should work but I
know for a fact that PostScript drivers do work and work well in this setup.
