I didn't think I was Using secure Printing?

I didn't think I was Using secure Printing? I just received the same
error as in Ryan Sinnwell's post on 11/29/05.
We had been using NIPP412 for some time and then when I tried adding XP
drivers for a HP Laserjer 2200DN I got that error:
"The SSL connection has been closed".

Does the 412 client autmatically use Secure Printing?
I followed the suggested fix and installed the Nile Beta. I haven't
rebooted server yet though.

Re: I didn't think I was Using secure Printing?

Secure printing vs driver/driver profile both use SSL/TLS as the mechanism
for security. The reason security is used for driver upload is to ward off
security threats of users proliferating crap drivers and virus as print
drivers and putting them on the server. The security is used as a mechanism
to authenticate the user uploading the driver, then checking the ACL rights
of that user to the Broker/RMS to insure the user has the rights to add a
driver..

The 412 client was different from the previous clients (4.05) in that the
newer client / iManager uses APACHE to upload the driver whereas the older
client used HTTPSTK to upload. The methods where different...

Re: I didn't think I was Using secure Printing?

Hi Peter,

If rebooting the server doesn't help try using nipp406.exe

Re: I didn't think I was Using secure Printing?

Peter & iPrintrox:

Thanks for both comments. I was able to add the XP drivers this
morning. It didn't help the printer though, we are now thinking the
jetcard died. We will try a wireless print server and a w2003 server,
as this printer is quite old and not worth A new jetcard.
