LAN Fax and IPP

We have a LARGE installation of Lanier/Ricoh MFP printers. Our users had
been using Lanier's LANFAX driver to fax directly from their word processor
to the appropriate Lanier MFP. That worked fine while we were using NDPS.
Now that we've moved to IPP we can not install the LANFAX driver because it
"attaches" to a new port on the print driver. IPP grays out/disables the
ability to add ports. Is there anyway to add a port to an IPP printer? This
has become quite an issue.

Thanks.

I had a chat with Eliot via email yesterday. He said that you resolved this with a different driver, is that correct?

Re: LAN Fax and IPP

What I did was create a "new" printer object; assign a name such as ROOM-100
FAX; assign ROOM-100 the same IP address as the actual Lanier MFP (ROOM-100
MFP); for the driver I chose the appropriate Lanier LANFAX driver. It
actually worked. Now when I'm in WORD or some other Windows App and I want
to FAX the current DOC, I choose the appropriate FAX printer. Not exactly
sure what happened in the background but the new FAX printer also knows
exactly what MFP it is; in the NDPS Manager screen on the NW server, when I
look at the properties of the device it shows the name of the Lanier MFP not
a FAX name.... Anyway the "fix" works.

Thanks.
