Large NDPS print jobs restart

Hello,
I'm having possible problem with NDPS. Whenever anyone starts a
large print job (5 mb and over). The print job starts at the very
beginning when there is a pause to reload paper. This only happens with
NDPS. When this is done with IP printing the print job starts where the
last page ended regardless of what size the job is. The printers are HP
4100 if that matters

Thanks for your help,

Re: Large NDPS print jobs restart

NDPS/iPrint will restart a non finished job whenever the connection to the
printer is lost. So the question boils down to why the NDPS manager looses
the connection to the printer.
What kind of server is this? What support pack? What NDPS gateway are you
using and how is it configured?

You always use a gateway with NDPS. Either it's Novell's gateway or a
third party gateway.

And what is the gateway load string?

I fall into the "me too" category... kinda. We're having problems when
large (between 500 and 5000 page jobs are sent from the UNIX servers...
haven't gotten to try to print a 1000 page job in windows) are sent
through NDPS.

NW6.5SP5 (with post SP5 and NDPS patches - going for the shotgun fix).
NDPS Manager v3.01v (according to the .nlm)

It's on a cluster, here's the load script (actual IP addresses replaced
with X's:

NSS /POOLACTIVATE=FSPRINT
MOUNT PRINT VOLID=254
CLUSTER CVSBIND ADD FSPRINT "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
NUDP ADD FSPRINT "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
ADD SECONDARY IPADDRESS "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"

NSS /TRANSACTION=PRINT
LOAD BROKER .FSBroker.SOSC /ALLOWDUP /IPADDRESS="xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
LOAD NDPSM .FSPrnMgr.SOSC /DBVOLUME=NOCHECK /IPADDRESS="xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
HTTPBIND "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx" /KEYFILE:"SSL CertificateIP"

I found further down in the iprint forum about limiting the disk space
for the print jobs, but we aren't doing that and there's 2,847,128KB
available on the print volume.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Large NDPS print jobs restart

It's not the cluster script I need but the gateway load string. You can
for example see that one from iManager in the printer's properties.

Right,

It's (currently):
"NDPSGW LPR HOSTNAME=BS-HPLJ8150-JD PRINTERNAME=RAW" (although, it has
been "passthrough" in the past).

Maybe you should try if port 9100 printing works better for this printer.
E.g. change the load striong to:

NDPSGW RAW HOSTNAME=BS-HPLJ8150-JD

AFAIK printername is case-sensitive and correct name is "raw", not
"RAW". It might not have any effect but try that.
