LaserJet 2200 + iPrint/NDPS

All,

Anyone seen this before .....

Laserjet 2200 (I have 4 of them, all doing this) ... NDPS/iPrint
reports the printer as "Offline"/"Needs Attention". However I can
telnet to the printer OK, I can set up a IP Port under M$ Win2K and
Print OK ? seems like a probelm between the Printer and the Internal
JetDirect ??

Any help would be appreciated ....

Re: LaserJet 2200 + iPrint/NDPS MAJOR problem

Hi Dave,

I'm running into this problem with 2100's more or less. I'm running
NW6,
NDPS, IPrint.

I have had several errors, one of which is the gateway can't
communicate
with the lpr gateway, although everything looks fine on my end. Novell
seems
to be reporting things wrong. I can print to the machines too from my
XP
machine no problem. The teachers aren't reporting any problems either.

The second one is that you install IPrint, install the printer, and my
98
machines will print fine a couple of times, then it will say that it
can't
communicate with the printer. IManager says the printer is idle, so
there
isn't anything making it to the server before it spits it back out to
the
printer. Then you un-install the printer and re-install it, everything

printes fine a couple more times. I just had a weirder one happen
where she
printed to her local printer, then to the 2100, then she couldn't
print to
EITHER. You reboot the machine, it still fails to print to the 2100.
Again,
do the un-re-install and it works temporarily.

I don't have a problem with my two XP machines that are running
IPrint.

Just out of curiosity, did you install directly from IPrint, or did
you
install IPrint, then do an "add Printer" out of Windows?

Re: LaserJet 2200 + iPrint/NDPS MAJOR problem

Printer is setup as NDPS/iPrint and W2K Adv Server Shared Printer.

Installed the printer from iPrint, NDPS and from a Win2K Adv Server
shared printer to a WinXP Pro, W2K Pro, WinNT4, Win98, Workstations,
all Workstations have the same results, printer reports the printer as
Ready on the W2K Adv Serv Shared Printer, but the iPrint and NDPS
printer report as Offline ?

Tried the Printer with HP NDPS Gateway, Novell Port Handler GateWay,
Novell SNMP GateWay, same results on all.

Re: LaserJet 2200 + iPrint/NDPS MAJOR problem

Delete and reinstall and this time instead of taking the default
PASSTHROUGH
change it to RAW. Thats what Windows wants. Had the same issue on
several
plotters. That seemed to fix it.

Re: LaserJet 2200 + iPrint/NDPS MAJOR problem

Hmm... tried that 😞

According to HP, default the printer, then select the correct paper
size in the trays ??? did this , still no joy 😞

If I spend another 4 hours working on this problem, it will be cheaper
to replace both printers with a true network printer !!!!! (I can live in
hope, cant I ??)

Thanks anyway.....

Sorry...not all solutions are solutions I suppose. Anyway, new stuff
