Maptool problem

I have a problem with maptool. It used to be OK, but since I upgraded from
NW6SP3 to 6.5 it's been acting up.

First of all, when I first browse to the maptool, I get a runtime error at
line 170: Error: Object doesn't support this property or method. When I
clear this I get a red cross and the text 'Drag and drop printer icon in the
design area' where the printer icon should be

If I start a new map, I can select printers from the printer list. If I load
a saved map (eg the example one), all the printer icons are on the map until
I select one and drop the printer icon list down. When I do this the printer
icon changes to a red cross.

There are also no backgrounds being listed in the drop-down list.

Does anyone know what's wrong???
