NDPS (not iprint ... yet) NWADMIN crashes opening printer details

We recently began the migration from Queue based printing to NDPS with
the intent of going all the way to iPrint. Printers using HP or Novell
gateway work fine. Our new Toshiba MFP 451 printers required the Toshiba
gateway be installed into the tree. All print fine but 2 of the 3
printer objects can not be managed in NWADMIN. When you try to open the
object details NWADMIN crashes.

How do I fix this? It the object corrupt? Is the application the
problem? Why does one work but not the other two? Is there a way to
manage them in console one instead?

Dont' use thid party gateways. With iPrint, the management tool to be used
is iManager and there are no management plugins for third party gateways.
Also, many third party gateways and the corresponding plugins are often
unstable and can cause server abends or other problems. I guess for
example that your NWADMIN crash is due to a bug in the Toshiba plugin.
Generally all network printers these days support at least LPR and/or Port
9100 printing, and if that is the case, they should work witht he Novell
gateway. The only problem might be getting to know the correct LPR name to
configure.

If you happen to have a URL for an online manual for the network interface
of your printer, then post it, and I might be able to tell you how to
configure NDPS/iPrint for your pritner using the Novell gateway.

Please also indicate what NetWare version and support pack you are using.

Apparently it's not the gateway that's the issue. I have deleted the
Toshiba gateway printer object and printer agent and recreated with
theNovell gateway with the same result.

Currently running NW 6.5 Spk5 latest patches available.

Printers are Toshiba 451 printers that do support both LPR and IPP
printing with port 9100. SSL is currently disabled for all printing
functions on these printers as we do not currently implimant any SSL for
internal firewall activities and these servers are not yet accessable
from outside the firewall.

All help is appreciated. I am not able to manage with Imanager either
dur to another issue where iManager does not appear to be loaded on the
server after the update to Spk5 on this server. Is there a plugin for
NDPS in Console One that will allow me to manage my NDPS printers without
using NWadmin32?

Did the Toshiba gateway include plugins for NWADMN32? If so, you should be
aware that the NWADMN32 plugins are not directly coupled to using a
particular gateway, but they are linked to the printer type you specified.
In other words, if during the printer installation, you selected the
Novell gateway, but you selected a toshiba printer as pritner type, then
NWADMN32 may use the vendor plugin to display the printer status and
properties in NWADMN32 instead of the generic Novell plugin. For that
reason, I would always recommend using the generic types of printers (e.g.
generic PCL or generic PS or the same options with PJL), even if your real
printer is in the list.
Did you choose a Toshiba printer as pritner type during installation?

Unfortunately, for ConsoleOne, there are no NDPS/iPrint plugins. However
we should really try to get your iManager working. Maybe you should post
your iManager problems in the iManager forum.
Beside getting your server version of iManager to work, you can also
simply run iManager mobile on a workstation. You can find iManager mobile
here:
http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=w4WNnPmq6R8~
To manage NDPS/iPrint from iManager mobile, you must have a recent Novell
client installed together with NDPS support *and* you must have the iPrint
client installed. In iManager itself, you must install the iPrint for
NetWare plugin:

Hi Marc I am having the same problem you have discussed under.i.e.

I have Installed NW6.5 with latest Service Pack SP6.I am creating LPR
printer using TOSHIBA gateway (Specific gateway comes with Toshiba
Printers Installer cd).Problem is when you open that printer agent
through NSADMIN32 utility. NWADMIN32 utility close by itself its
happening after updating server with SP6 with SP5 its working fine..Its
happening with all the clients. Some times its giving Error "OUT OF
MEMORY"

Do you have any solution related to this
If yes Pls help
