Need to Hide Document Names in Windows 10 Printers

Hi

We have one virtual printer for our entire organisation that is used for follow me printing. Jobs are redirected from this printer to all the physical printers around the campus. We are running the iPrint Appliance 1.1 and our users are Mac and Windows 7 and 10. Whenever anyone double clicks on the printer they see all the jobs with the document name that all users have sent to the follow me queue that are waiting to be released. Our executive see this as a security risk and have stated if we cannot hide the jobs or at least the document names that iPrint must go. We have an old machine with version 5.56 of the iPrint client that does not display any of the print jobs when you double click the follow me printer but all later versions show all jobs with their document name.

If anyone has any ideas to resolve this for us it would be much appreciated.

1. FYI. Appliance 1.1 is not longer supported
2. This issue is present on 2 places, windows spooler and /ipp page. ipp
page is already fixed with latest patches for appliance 2.1
3. The windows spooler will be fixed on next appliance release. Not sure
if Micro Focus will port back the fix to 2.x appliance.

Thanks for the reply. In the fix is it a setting to display the document name or does it just not display the name. Also if you have any recommendations on the migration to version 2.1 as I think if we upgrade and the spooler fix is around the corner that will be the way to go.
Thanks again for your help.

1. The fix on the /ipp page and currently released is not configurable
and it hides all the print job waiting on the server spooler.

2. The fix for the win client will be a customizable settings on the
iprint.ini file on the server/appliance.

I'm trying to confirm if fix will be ported to appliance 2.x code or it
will be only available on 3.0 version.

To migrate from 1.1 to 2.1, you can use the iprintconfig.zip file.

This fix will be included on the next appliance 2.x patch so you do not
need to wait for 3.0

Re: Need to Hide Document Names in Windows 10 Printers

Hi All,

Just reading this thread, I have version 2.1.0.66-HP.76 which as far as I can see is the latest version but I don't see the option in the iprint.ini to hide document names, can someone confirm what the option should be called?

Thanks
