Netware 6.5 (sp6) with NDPS printers

LS.
I have problems to configure the HP 2014 printer as a NDPS printer. The
original HP 2014 printerdriver will cause windows printspooler at the
workstation to crash (when setting up as ndps printer). Now I have assigned
the HP 4 printer driver for this printer in the NDPS broker, but still poor
quality with fonts.
I even used the printer inf-generator tool, to adjust the HP 2014 driver,
but still spooler crash.
Is this printer (HP2014) acceptable for NDPS use or is there a workaround
(other printer driver)?

regards,

Dirk

I have no HP 2014 printers myself (and I'm glad we virtually have no HP
printers given the amount of driver problems that typically exist betwene
HP printers and NDPS/iPrint), but just as a general rule to fix this type
of problems:

1. The NDPS client is part of the Novell client. Sometimes, spooler
crashes due to incompatibilities between drivers and NDPS are fixed in
newer NDPS clients. As such, it might be worthwhile trying a newer Novell
client in case you are using an old one.

2. The most Novell compatible drivers are typically those already included
with Windows. As such, you might check if there is a driver for your
printer included with Windows, or another pritner that is the preceeding
model. I would certainly not go back to an old HP4 driver.

3. In case the printer manufacturer has different types of drivers for a
same printer, try which one works best. Often, the simplest driver is the
one that potentially works best.

Hi,

1. The client installed on the workstation is 4.90 sp2.(workstation are all
win xp-sp2)

2/3 I've triede several different HP drivers, but when printing in one
software it seems okay, but in another program (or print within IE) fonts
are NOT recognized or characters on printout are "wierd" due to fontype.

best option? update netware client?

Well, it would certainly be a good idea to try a more current client
version.
