Printer Agent shows wrong status

I have two Public access printers of the same type served by a Single NDPS
manager on a Netware 5.1 SP8 server.

One of these printers (say HP_123) was probably shutdown for sometime and
the Status on Agent showed 'Printer Not Connected'. Since then, it has been
powered up for about 48 hours now.

It's an IP printer and I can now ping to it. I can print my jobs and
everything is seemingly fine except the status on Printer agent. Off and on
it goes into "sleep state" but then so the other one.

It still displays under [Netware Management portal -NDPS Manager
health-Printer agent name "HP_123" - Current Status "Error Printing" in RED.

I followed tips given in TID: 10061751
(http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?10061751.htm) but
still the status remains same.

The server console screen shows: "The Port handler failed a data write to
the LPR device. The remote printer may need attention".

NDPS manager screen on console shows a status of "Needs Attention" against
this Printer Agent.

Spooky...!!! What could be the problem??

It sounds like the IP configuration for the printer Agent may need to be
reset. Go into the Manager and reconfigure the IP for the printer. You
will need to restart the printer agent after IP has been reconfigured.
Also you could try using the Novell Printer Agent if you have not already
tried that.
