Printer Driver Profiles lost after upgrading the iPrint appl

I "upgraded" my iPrint appliance from 0.0.377 to 1.0.1.69 by iprintconfig.zip. First I thought it went well, today I noticed that nearly all printer driver profiles are gone. The printers are still assigned with that profiles, but if I try to edit one of the profiles, I get an error that it is not found.
Therefor, I can`t install printers ...
To make my environment running again, I removed the association printer - driver profile. I fear I have to recreate all profiles for all OSs again 😕

Where are that profiles stored? Just in eDir or files? If files - where?

Driver profiles are store on the iprint database.

Check if the padbtxt.xml contains the correct info bout drivers profile.
if affirmative, you may just need to re-import the xml file to get back
the profiles.
If negative, check if the backup file contains the correct info.

But you said: "nearly all...." so not all are gone. Are a particular
architecture the one gone, the ones still present?

Re: Printer Driver Profiles lost after upgrading the iPrint

Found the file padbtxt.xml in the backup (iprintconfig\tmp\iPrint_Mobile_Backup). I'm not familar with xml so I'm not sure if it is correct.
How do I re-import this file?

All PDP for Windows7_x64, Windows8_x64 are gone and some for WinXPx86.

It is in /var/opt/novell/iprint/iprint_manager.appliance.psm/padbtxt.xml
the current one. Open or list the content of the file with cat command,
and check if profiles are there. If they're, just import the file in
this way:

1. Unload the Print Manager

rcnovell-ipsmd stop

Ensure the Print Manager is unloaded by typing:

ps -ef | grep ipsmd
only the grep command should be returned. If more than the grep line is
returned, kill the ipsmd process.

2. Backup the Print Manager directory and conf file
Copy the psmdb.dat and padbtxt.xml to a safe location:

#cp /var/opt/novell/iprint/[PSM].[OU]..psm/psmdb.dat /tmp/psmdb.dat
#cp /var/opt/novell/iprint/[PSM].[OU]..psm/padbtxt.xml /tmp/padbtxt.xml

3. Load the Print Manager with a new database:

# cd /opt/novell/iprint/bin
# ./ipsmd -b

4. import the file:

# rcnovell-ipsmd stop

# /opt/novell/iprint/bin/ipsmd -x /tmp/padbtxt.xml

5. Restart Print Manager

# rcnovell-ipsmd start

Now they should be there as long as they're in the xml file

Re: Printer Driver Profiles lost after upgrading the iPrint

Thank you so much. It worked like a charm.

The hardest part to follow your intructions were the part with:
# /opt/novell/iprint/bin/ipsmd -x /tmp/padbtxt.xml
as you'll be asked for authorization. I entered Admin and it was wrong as you have to enter full information in LDAP style:
cn=admin,o=iPrintAppliance 😉

Again, thank you
