Printer out of paper ... start all over

Hi!
OES 11 SP1. Could be printer or driver or ... related, but maybe someone can shed a light. Just one of our "customers" complains, that when printer is out of paper and paper is added then printer start all printing over again. Some settings ... we missed?
More thanks, Alar.

Re: Printer out of paper ... start all over

May not be directly applicable but I have seen this behavior on non-iPrint due to the printer driver. For this particular printer, do you have just this one or others? If you have more than one, does the restart of print job happen on others too?

Re: Printer out of paper ... start all over

Hi, thanks and sorry, I missed that.
Well, I understood from "customer" that this happen only in case this job left unattended for paper add for some time. We have only HP printers and use mostly universal (UPD) drivers.
More thanks, Alar.

Geez ... ALMOST looks like the printer was trying to be (un)smart if there is an error condition for some duration?

Re: Printer out of paper ... start all over

Have you tried sending data to the printer's RAW port (usually 9100) instead of LPR?

Re: Printer out of paper ... start all over

Hi and thanks
Missed this post once again totally, sorry. Just same user has reported same problem and I asked him to try out another printer with newer driver, we’ll see. Nope, haven’t tried to change to raw, but will do if problem persist.
More thanks, Alar.
