Printers disappearing from Print Manager

I have two printers that keep disappearing from the Print Manager on OES2. Both printers are the same model, HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911g. The Print Manager no longer sees them, but the eDirectory object is still visible in ConsoleOne. I've recreated them several times with new names, with drivers, & without drivers. I've patched and rebooted the server, updated the iPrint client, and they are still disappearing. I'm ready to either move the printers to another server or just print via direct IP. Any ideas?

Your problem sounds very similar to this: https://www.novell.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7000747

Novell is working on this issue and it only happens with this particular
printer model. Verify that you're patch up to the April maintenance
patch and on the gateway autoload command, add at the end the switch NOSNMP:

Example:

iprintgw PORT=LPR HOSTADDRESS=[x.x.x.x] PRINTERNAME=PASSTHROUGH NOSNMP

Then on the printer control tab of the PA, shutdown and restart the PA
and let see if now disappear.

Re: Printers disappearing from Print Manager

I've updated the firmware of the printers to the latest version (R1304A), and I've also added the NOSNMP option. I am able to print for a few hours, then the printers disappear again from the Print Manager. I do see in the log file (/var/opt/novell/iprint/ipsmd.log) the following error after this happens:

May 17 11:21:43 WARNING The iPrint Manager's database was corrupt. A backup database has been restored from eDir.

I'm guessing now I do have to recreate or restore the print manager database.

you have to delete the previous printer and then clear the database and
re-import the printers using the steps mentioned on tid 3006957, option 2

Then create the problem printer again and add the nosnmp switch.

After that, it will not disappear it.

Re: Printers disappearing from Print Manager

I was able to resolve the issue by deleting the OJ8600 printers and restoring the Print Manager database from a version two weeks prior, following TID 3006957 option 1. I recreated the printers with the NOSMTP option and the problem seems to be resolved.
