Slow Printing after upgrade iPrint Appilance iPrint-2.1.0.75

Everyone,

We have a single appliance supporting 165 printers/MFP's and running Papercut MF 17.0.4. I did upgrades to both iPrint Appliance and Papercut over the past weekend. Everything seemed fine until the Office Accounting people called and said it is taking 4 minutes to generate a report/check/invoice and another 3 minutes after the printer dialog box appears to get the printout. We contacted the Accounting software company (the software is MS SQL based ) and they ran through all sorts of tests, changes and troubleshooting and could not find a problem. I changed the iprint client back to 6.06 from 6.08 and the problem went away. 2 seconds to generate the report and 2 to 5 seconds to print, just like it use to. I waited to make the switch back because most other people are not reporting an issue. Word, excel, etc seems to print fine for most (but not all, some reports now coming in about slowness in these apps) We have almost all Windows 10 (ver 1607) 64 bit workstations. I have asked the user base for other reports of slowness, so far a very small number have responded. But if your user base is like mine, once one person reports slowness everybody seems to think it is slower!

Has anyone else had this issue and is there any known problems, TIDs on the latest iprint upgrade??

We have yet to release a TID, but we do have an FTF that hopefully addresses the issue. You can download the iPrint client FTF from:
ftp://ftp.novell.com/outgoing/nipp_x64_slowness_fix.exe
As you have discovered there seems to be an issue with the iPrint clients post 6.06. Hopefully the FTF resolves the issue. Please update this thread with your results.

Re: Slow Printing after upgrade iPrint Appilance iPrint-2.1.

We have installed the updated iPrint client, you supplied, on the current workstations giving us the most printing issues. The problems seem to be fixed. We have informed our test users to report any additional problems using the "new" client and I will update the thread accordingly.

Any idea when a fully tested set of iprint clients will be released or a new patch to the iPrint appliance will be released?

We're having the same issues, and the posed ftf seems to fix it for us.
My followup question is this: Can I replace the client that is auto pushed by the server with this one, (i.e. /htdocs/clients/win-8/x86_64/nipp-s.exe) with this version, in order to fix this? Do you have a "-s" version available?

The FTF is not intended to be pushed out into production. As soon as we have a production ready client I will update the thread. Thank you for the feedback.

No, this is a developer build only for testing. Micro Focus is building
a new build for production.

Hi all,

we see a similar behaviour in iPrint Appliance 3.1.
Will there be a patch too?

Re: Slow Printing after upgrade iPrint Appilance iPrint-2.1.

We have had no reports of slow printing in the iPrint Appliance 3.1 as long as the Windows iPrint client has been updated to the v6.09.00 version.

Re: Slow Printing after upgrade iPrint Appilance iPrint-2.1.0.75

ok. Thanks. Currently we have 6.07, which obviously came with
iPrint-Appliance. Just saw there is a HP1. Will see if 6.09 comes with it.
