Toshiba E-Studio copiers/printers

We have several Toshiba E-Studio copiers/printers in my school district
and we use iprint to push out the drivers for them. I have been trying
to get the bi-directional communication (Communication between the
driver and the copier so that the configuration updates automatically)
working but have had no luck. In the driver profile on the server it has
no option for me to do a discovery which will find the printer by ip
address. After the driver is downloaded to local computer I can do a
discovery by ip address so the bi-directional communication is working.
Why can't I do this on the driver profile on the server? Any help would
be appreciated. It will take too much time to go around and do a
discovery on everyones computer.

Toshiba E-Studio copiers/printers

This sounds like a familiar issue. Newer printers/drivers have the
ability for the driver to talk directly to the printer to "self-
configure" the driver on the workstation.. In order for this to work
the printer reference on the workstation has to know the printer address,
then most likely uses SNMP mechanism to get information regarding the
printer.

The issue here is that the address in the URL that is given during the
iprint install is the address of the server, not the printer address. So
most likely the request are going to the server, not the printer..

We need to consider handling these situations better.

Any input???
