Vista and 7
Hi
Netware 6.5.8, last NDPS and iPrint modules.
How can add windows vista and 7 printer drivers to broker using iManager or NWadmin if there is no tab for them?
I only have windows XP, 2000, nt4, 95/98 tab.
Thanks
Viegas

Are you adding them from Vista/Win7?

I thought the same thing, apparently you need to install the "beta" iprint client for 7 and Vista support.

Unlikely to be the last, cause then it would work.

What version of iManager is running on the server and what is the version of
the iPrint module in iManager?
On our system, which has the tabs, we are running iManager 2.7.2 and the
iPrint Management for NetWare module is version 2.7.1.20090722.
Also have you applied the server-side iprint update 'sp8b'?
Have you installed the current iprint client (version 5.30) to your
workstation?
I believe that if you do all of the above you should have the bits in
iManager needed to be able to upload drivers from a Win7 client to the
iPrint Broker/RMS.
BTW with the above versions you will NOT SEE ANY TABS - the interface has
been changed. You will now see a DROPDOWN LIST BOX labeled "Drivers
Platform:"
Maybe that is all that is going on - a change has been made and you didn't
notice it?
Cheers,
Ron

Viegas,

To expand on Joes somewhat brief reply: iManager has always been the tool to
administer iPrint. While it is true that NWadmin32 is able to administer the
underlying NDPS, it has never had the ability to administer stuff like iPrint
enabling a printer, printer profiles etc.

Hi
iPrint isn't an extended of NDPS for Vista? To use iPrint we must have the NDPS on server, no? And NDPS is administrated with NWAdmin too, no?
Can you help me a little more and give me an answer to my post "Push printers to users"?
Thank you for your help.

I have updated the iManager from 2.7.2 to iManager 2.7.3 and also applied the patch 'sp8b' in the server but after that when I go to Broker in order to upload the driver I find only one tab called Driver and when I click on "Add File" to upload the driver it throws an error " IP address is not added " hence unable to upload the driver.
what could be reason? do I need to do any extra setting in the server after patch updation 'sp8b'?
when I create the printer from NWADMIN utility and enable the iPrint and go to Windows 7 and try to install iPrint enable driver it gives a popup saing the iPrint client is not installed in your client machine though the iPirnt 5.30 is already installed in client PC, what coule be thereson???

Yes and no. IPrint is a separate technology to manage printers. It is an implementation of ipp:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Printing_Protocol
On NetWare, the backbone is built on NDPS, that is correct, but that is not the case on Linux. Hence the recommended, cross-platform way to
manage iPrint is iManager. Does this answr your question?
