Will iPrint be ever made directory agnostic?

Any chance for this happening?
So it could be used in pure AD?

Sort of.

There's an iPrint appliance that was demo'd at Brainshare. The appliance basically has a built-in eDirectory tree, so that's why I say "no", but because it's an appliance and self-contained, you could run it in a "pure" Windows environment, so that's why I say "yes".

However, if you mean:
Did they port the code over to windows so that you can run iPrint ON a windows server with just AD, then the answer is "no".

Agreed that it would be nice if they ported it over instead of having to resort to an appliance.

But maybe if we all submit RMS requests they can look at porting things over in the next release?

Yes, that is precisely what the iPrint appliance is for. I'm not sure
if I completely understand Kevin's response when he mentioned the
appliance in this thread. It really doesn't matter if the underlying
"database" is eDir, MySQL, or anything else... it's all within the
appliance and you never interface with it directly. The appliance is
simply designed so that you point it to an LDAP source whether it be
eDir or AD and that LDAP source is used for printer authentication. In
a way it's very similar to the approach taken by Filr.
