iPrint 2.1 - Mac driver packages problem

I’m trying to make use of the new Mac printer package deployment in the
iPrint 2.1 appliance, but I’m getting an error when trying to install
printers associated with the driver package.

All HP Printers, appropriate PPD assigned.

Uploaded HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers.pkg using iManager (it’s a 500MB
file) and associated it with the printers. This is the 3.1 version
(current) from Apple’s website, and the one HP directs me to use.

Mac iPrint client is v06.04.00

If the computer in question already has the above package installed,
the printer installs without issue.

If the computer does not have the package, and thus iPrint must
distribute it, the Mac generates the following error. I also noticed in
the error dialog that the long original file name is now truncated to a
windows format.

Re: iPrint 2.1 - Mac driver packages problem

I just tested this and it works for me. I extracted the HP LaserJet M5039 MFP PPD from the .DMG and associated it to the hpprinterdriver3.1.dmg that I uploaded to the driver store. I was able to install the driver package and go through the complete printer installation without an error. I installed the printer using Firefox. I am also running the 6.04 version of the iPrint client on a Mac with OSX 10.11.6. At what point does this fail for you? What is the exact error you see? Check /vastorage/print/var/opt/novell/iprint/resdir/driver_mac-os-x_noarch_en for a folder called hpprinterdriver3%2E1 and in that folder there should be an ARCHIVES folder. In ARCHIVES you should have a resource.zip file that is 547 MB. You might want to try deleting the package and uploading it again and re-associating it to the PPD. Any additional information you can provide will help.

Re: iPrint 2.1 - Mac driver packages problem

I've asked my team to repordice the error and document the issue. What
they've told me is that it's specific to El Capitan, and that the
process worked perfectly with older versions of Mac OS.

Once I have the steps to recreate I'll get back to you.
