iPrint Client 5.78 -> problems persist

I cannot confirm this. We keep having bootup hang.

And we still have the Dr. Watson when running "nipp-s.exe" or when unpacking nipp-s.exe and running "setupipp.exe /S".
Please try to install on Windows XP when "file and printer sharing for microsoft networks" is not installed.

I assume there is still something wrong with the new iCM feature.

Really? wow... I rolled out 5.77 (was a test patch) and didn't see the issue any longer.. for some reason 5.78 isnt auto-updating around here, need to look into that. So you're seeing the exact same symptoms? Blue screen with cursor/no ping when computer boots?

Thanks for the heads up on this, may have fixed an issue here that was
starting to become monster-esque..........

3 for 3 in trying iprint 5.78 & having the machine boot up in a
'normal' amount of time again.

Problem is I haven't seen the issue myself, user told me it happened.
I am now rolling out 5.78 in portions (I never use iPrint itself to rollout iPrint Client, I use ZENworks) and check for boot issues.
Last night I installed on 11 PCs and none showed the issue. Tonight I will install on another 10 or 20.

Installed 5.78 on another 45 PCs (38 virtual, 7 physical). No more boot issues so far.
Will continue rollout starting Monday.

Rollout of 5.78 complete.

Total of 568 XP SP3 clients (79 virtual, 489 physical) running 5.78 now.
No more boot issues encountered.


Only issue left now is setupipp.exe / nipp-s.exe crashing on some PCs.

schalti, Novell Support has heard rumblings of install problems using the nipp-s.exe version of the iPrint client installer for a few versions now. We want to resolve this problem, but we have not been able to duplicate it. Would you be willing to help us resolve this problem? This invitation goes out to anyone out here reading this post who can duplicate the problem, are you willing to help us debug this problem?

If you have a machine which can consistently (or semi-consistently) duplicate this, and you are willing to gather some debug information for us, please email patchfeedback@novell.com with the subject of "iPrint client silent install crash". I will send you a debug version of the client with instructions to generate more detailed debug logs in this area.
