iPrint & Brother Printers

Are there any other iPrint users on iPrint Appliance 3.2.0 (fully patched) that are having issues with the print service communicating with Brother printers like HL-6200dw or HL-5200dw? We are seeing the server stating there is an issue like lid open, media missing, or jam occurred and after addressing the issue, the server does not clear out the message. We have to go into NPS and stop/start the printer service on that specific device. Is this a known issue with Brother printers not communicating well with the iPrint Appliance? As a side note, we are seeing these messages regardles of W7 or W10 all running clienct v6.16.00

Thanks in advance for any assistance or advice regarding this issue.

Server will react to the snmp message sent from the brother printer once
the problem has gone. Depending in the snmp odi, server will clear the
problem or not. In the past there were some issues with brother not
sending the correct odi to clear the problem and it was fixed by a
brother firmware update. You may need to capture a lan trace on
appliance and see what snmp odi printer sends to clear the problem: if
it is the correct one, then problem lies on the iprintgw, if it is not
the correct one, then brother needs to fix it

To give you an scenario where a brother printer works and when it does not:

+ not working
Brother MFC-L2740DW
Firmware Version
MAIN
K1604111850
SUB1
1.06
SUB2
G1604261200

+ working

Brother DCP-8065DN
DCP Firmware Version P
NIC Firmware Version 1.15

So there is differences on the brother printer in how the clear the
problem and send the snmp trap. Again, a lan trace will show what snmp
trap the printer is sending to clear the problem

Re: iPrint & Brother Printers

Mysterious,

Thank you for both responses! The first step I will take is to check the firmware version of the Brother printers. If they need updates, I will install those and monitor the situation.
