iPrint and Mac OS X

Can anyone point me as to the means of loading OS X PPD drivers onto an
iPrint Server.

NWADMIN - is out of support andonly covers Windows
CONSOLE ONE - does not seam to support iPrint

iManager - from a Mac does not support loading from system
iManager - from a PC seems to be looking for files with .PPD extensions
but Manufacturer we site seem to have .hqx files containing .pkg

What am I missing ?

Re: iPrint and Mac OS X

You can only do it from a Windows PC via iManager.

If you don't have a .PPD file, put the .HQX on a Mac and install it.
Then you can find the installed PPDs in Library\Printers\PPDs on the
Mac. Copy those to a network drive or the PC where you run iManager
and you can them import them into the RMS database.

Re: iPrint and Mac OS X

Make that Library\Printers\PPDs\Contents\Resources\en.lproj (assuming
your language is English).

And I forgot that they are gzipped there, so you'll need to extract the
PPDs from there. StuffIt Expander will do.

Re: iPrint and Mac OS X

I'm getting the following message trying to "load from File"
from a windows workstation running IE 6.0

"An error has occured while trying to access the resource."
"Error: -12"

Re: iPrint and Mac OS X

I have tried again, it did work when I unzipped some HP drivers
from the .gz files in Library\Printers\PPDs\Contents\Resources\en.lproj.

It also worked with FS800 Kyocera .ppd files intended for use with Linux/CUPS.

I'm still getting an error with Richoh files.

Thank you for your help

Re: iPrint and Mac OS X

You might be able to use iprintcmd that ships on the box to upload the ppd
files to the server. Or you could use a linux box and use the iprintcmd
tool to upload them

iPrint and Mac OS X

You can add the drivers from a file on a pc, provided you have the correct
PPD saved to the pc. Select 'from file' instead of the 'from system'
button, and browse to the correct PPD file, and upload it. The PPD should
now be available in the OSX/Linux drivers page.
