iPrint authication and Windows Vista

With Windows XP: the iPrint client allowed me to not be prompted for credentials when using the Novell Client along w/NetIdentity.

How is the equivalent acomplished under Vista? Currently I log into Novell and I am still prompted for a usernamer/password from the iPrint client. Do we need to implement Universal Password or some other password management service on the back-end?

Any suggestions/comments or "you're making this too hard - it's easy! comments" are greatly appreciated! 🙂

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: iPrint authication and Windows Vista

Well, first of all, I have to admint that I don't have a full answer for
you as I haven't got any experiance with iPrint on Vista myself.
I just wanted to tell you 2 things:

1) The transparent signon for the iPrint client though netidentity is
absolete technology. I don't know exactly with which iPrint client it
started, but for a couple of years, the iPrint clients for Windows have a
builtin functionality to take over the credentials from the Novell client
directly without having to rely on netidenty.

2) I don't know if this feature is also built into the iPrint client for
Vista. More egenrally speaking, the requirements and limitations for the
iPrint client for Vista are explained here:

In our test environment the iPrint client (v5.0.4) for Vista does not use the credentials from the Novell Client (1.0.0 update 4) The reduced functionality of the iPrint client in Vista has been a concern for our institution. It would be nice to know the development roadmap for this product.
