iPrint client for Vista - standalone download?

Is it possible to get a standalone download for the iPrint client for Vista?
I understand it is part of OES2 but there are probably customers like me
that do not want to download all of OES2 just for one little thing.

I think you'll need the whole works to be able deliver Vista printer
drivers.

I'm trying to find out what the scoop is. I'm not sure if the backend has
to be updated or if it's simply a client upgrade (or both).

Hi!

I installed the iprint client 5.02 for vista here. When i try to simply
install printers via web page <server>\ipp i only get the message, that
the iprint client is not installed, so i think esp the webend needs an
update in terms of Activex controlls or something like that.

Or is there a chance to get this working in a netware 6.5 SP7
enviroment? I´m on SP6 right now

Best regards,
Holger

Re: iPrint client for Vista - standalone download?

I finally had to deal with this yesterday when a special ed student brought his vista laptop in and needed to be able to print. I didn't find a vista client but the workaround from tid 3288691 did the trick for me.

This is also from the tid and maybe help with your question.

"Important Note: When the iPrint client for Vista is available, it will require that the Print Manager and Broker/Driver Store to be hosted on an OES 2 or NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 7 server. "

I just do not understand this at all!!!! iPrint Client Management will
not be supported? What gives???

If you aren't running ZCM then we you will be stuck with manual prinbter
installation since users require admin rights to actually install the
printer drivers.

Are they crazy? What has happened to Novell?

Re: iPrint client for Vista - standalone download?

When I asked about this a few months back, the back end stuff like the
broker, apache and iManager plugins need to be updated to deliver Vista
drivers. SP7 delivers this on NetWare.

I could see Novell releasing just an updated iPrint client (without the
rest of SP7/OES2), however, without the backed updates, it won't do
anything.

I hope this is just a "not yet" and that Novell will be able to provide
ICM and integrated login with the client later on.

Re: iPrint client for Vista - standalone download?

Well, the big "loosers" in this scenario are the OES/Linux users (if there
are any). Unless they upgrade to OES2/Linux, they still have to wait for
Vista support.

Hi!

Why? They can setup a OES1 Netware SP7 based iprint server 🙂

Just kidding....
