testpage from iManager

Hi!

We are starting with Iprint on our NW 6.5. Everything works fine so far.
One little thing. Is there a possibility to print a test page (or
configuration page)to a iprint-printer in iManager without installing the
printer on my local machine? I couldn`t find anything!
It is only to see, that everything is configured right(connection
broker/Manager/gateway etc.). I know, that I can user the printers
IP-address also, but then I do not see, whether the iprint configuration is
correct.

I would assume the whole reason for wanting to print a test page is to
make sure the configuration of the printer is okay. This includes the
drivers, and the only way to fully test the configuration of the printer,
including drivers, is to install the printer. Have you looked at the
iprntcmd utility. It allows you to install and print a test page from a
command line. This is something you could possibly script..

We have considered doing this. The problem with the idea of printing a
test page from iManager is that we cannot install a driver since iManager
is often running on the server. We could print some generic print ready
file that would work on most printers but this would not give you a true
test of your system. We would either suggest using iprntcmd to submit a
test page from a windows client or just install a printer and try it.
