Meet Our Fall 2022 Featured Knowledge Partner - Ken Etter!

by in Welcome

Tell us about yourself and your experience.

My training is in the Architecture field (think building design) and I am a Registered Architect. But early in my career, I became responsible for all the IT needs of my company and my tech experience has grown as technology has evolved.

How long have you used Micro Focus products? What are the primary products you use and why?

Back in the early 90s, I started with Novell Netware 3.11, GroupWise, and Border Manager. Currently, we run Open Enterprise Server, ZENworks, Filr, iPrint, and IDM. These products work well to fulfill our business requirements.

How long have you been a Micro Focus Community Knowledge Partner? Why did you first decide to join the program?

I’ve always enjoyed being a part of the Micro Focus community. Over the years I have received great help from community members, and I have tried to do my part to return the favor. In 2016, I was asked to join the Knowledge Partner program, so I accepted the offer.

How do you help the Community as a Knowledge Partner (i.e., what forums do you help answer questions in, do you submit tips, etc.)?

I try to stay involved with the Open Enterprise Server, ZENworks, Filr, and iPrint forums. I monitor the IDM forums as we use that product, but don’t assist much there. I occasionally write Tips.  My involvement fluctuates with my workload, but I try to be of assistance where I can.

What else can you tell us about yourself and your activities outside the community?

I enjoy time with my family, playing guitar with my church band, and reading. I find that stepping away from technology in my off hours helps me recharge and think better about technology when I am working.
