If the search string contains a single quote and the Knowledge Base (KB) search is not authenticated, then the following error will occur: Unauthorized -This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

Environment

Support Portal - https://portal.microfocus.com

Situation

On searching the KB in the Support Portal , if the search string contains a single quote the following error can occur:

Unauthorized -This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

This issue will only occur if the KB search has not already been authenticated as Guest or User Name as indicated by (1) and (2) below:

Resolution

There are two possible resolutions available:

  • Either: Use double quotes instead of single ones in your search string
  • Or:  Authenticate the KB search first by searching for another string without single quotes
